[IA] Minecraft Server Rules

The private Minecraft server, hosted and maintained by Urda, is a privilege for [IA] team members. It is NOT A RIGHT to have access to the server. Therefore, there are a few rules one must follow to maintain access.

Updated on 2012.01.04-15.09

  • DO NOT
    • Grief other players structures, homes, living environments, and so on.
    • Take items from other players storage or areas without permission.
    • Destroy the environment with TNT, giant holes, and other unappealing terrain manipulation. Constructions sites are fine, just don’t start work and then never start-up again. Have a plan to complete any surface work over time. A time of Indefinite is not an appropriate answer.
    • Use the seed with third-party tools to determine various critical points (strongholds, ore, etc) to gain an advantage.
    • Use X-Ray texture packs or other tools to “see” through the terrain and find resources.
    • Enter unauthorized areas. If a player has sectors or portions of their base that are clearly marked for non-entry or escort only DO NOT enter without permission. Have some decency and respect their wishes.
    • Crowd other players. Don’t just drop in next door to what clearly is another player’s base. Move out a good amount, the world is large enough for all.
    • Use extremely vulgar or racist language in chat.
    • Be a general annoying player or jerk. You know what’s right and wrong. You know when you are bothering another player.
    • Ask server admin staff to give you items, teleport you, or other admin level requests. If you need supplies for a public build, follow the policies in “Big Project & Public Project Policies” section for getting resources.

  • DO
    • Be kind to your fellow players.
    • Be kind to your admin users.
    • Be kind to the environment, build and shape it effectively.
    • Donate to keep the server alive on the donation page. This helps us to continue to bring you the forums, Ventrilo, and other [IA] services for free. You do get in-game goodies based on donation amount!

  • Big Project & Public Project Policies
    • Be sure to NOT impact other player’s bases, domains, or living spaces.
    • Be sure to NOT impact other existing public projects, roads, and travel routes.
    • POST on the forums before starting any large projects so other users can be aware of construction.
    • POST on the forums for any resource requests for public projects. If it benefits the greater good, often times you will get all rare resources you will need.
    • For private projects, GATHER resources EFFECTIVELY. For example: If you strip a beach of its sand, fill it back in with dirt or at least reshape it so it does NOT become a large hole in the ground.

  • If you find a player breaking the rules…
    • You MUST have evidence, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that a player is causing trouble or not following appropriate policy.
    • You MUST have attempted to resolve the issue yourself (such as unauthorized entry, griefing, language) BEFORE posting.
    • POST on the forums with all the details of the occurrence.
    • DO NOT tattle on every little thing. Reserve an alert post for big issues.

  • You can, and will, be banned for not following these policies. Ban time length will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Expect map resets at least once a quarter. However, Admin staff reserves the right to reset the map at anytime.
  • Admin staff reserves the RIGHT to update this list at anytime. Follow the forums for update notices regularly.
  • TL;DR: Read the rules, there is no overview.
